About the event
The Florida insurance market has always been a source of economic concern. With the recent active hurricane seasons, insurance companies failing or leaving Florida, companies are no longer willing to do business in the association market, the situation is now a crisis. We need to have an honest, frank discussion about what needs to be done to address it.
Following the tragic condominium collapse in Surfside, FL, the Legislature has enacted a variety of safety measures including building inspections, addressing funding for buildings’ structural components by way of more robust reserves, etc. There remains significant confusion regarding these new requirements which will we discuss along with the impact they will have on certain associations.
Homeowners are experiencing significant increases in their monthly assessments and special assessments to be able to cover these increased expenses and we need some answers and for our policymakers to understand the impact being felt by the community.
Please join us for a Community Townhall meeting to discuss issues facing Associations such as Insurance, Reserves, Building Inspections, etc. and what can be accomplished during the upcoming Legislative Session starting January 9 to provide some much-needed assistance. We are honored to have our district legislators: Representative Linda Chaney, Senator Nick DiCeglie, Insurance Commissioner Mike Yaworsky, along with local subject matter experts in the fields of Florida Condominium Legislative Issues, Insurance, Engineering & Inspection, and Legal to share their insights and experience to help bring clarity and understanding to our situation.
